Mega Aero Training Academy (MATA) founded in 2010 is an aviation training academy based at O.R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg with Satellite training facilities at Grand Central Airport, Midrand, and Johannesburg. MATA trains in all areas of the aerospace environment and is a leader in aviation education.  Combining an innovative education and training model with a curriculum based on industry trends and opportunities.

MATA offers aviation industry training in the following fields: aviation apprentice technical training, flight crew, cabin crew, advanced technical training, regulatory training, ground school for pilots, technical type ratings (rotor and fixed wing), dangerous goods for aviation, airport worker training and is a Trade Test Certified preparation and examination center.  MATA holds both local accreditation with the South African authorities and several African countries.

MATA has maintained a tradition of excellence in aviation training throughout its expansion of aviation career type training.  Housing more than, 900+ years of aviation experience, amongst the instructional staff.  Any student is guaranteed a wealth of knowledge and experience transferal. With our focus on industry partnerships, graduate students of MATA have access to real-world projects, networking opportunities and up-to-date information that make them desirable future employees and leaders.

SAO is a certified ATO (Aviation Training Organisation – ATO) and is the holder of an AOC (Aircraft Operators Certificate) both certified by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).  . 

SAO offers superior aviation services.  We deliver a team of highly motivated and experienced pilots, flight instructors, maintenance and ground crew. 

The staff are backed up by a diverse fleet of impeccably maintained variety of aircraft utilised for varied aerial applications including training from PPL through to ATPL, specific aircraft type ratings, conversions, charter operations, aerial photography, game management, aerial crop spraying, crop seeding, slinging and more.  And for our up and coming pilots full ground school facilities with access to SACAA pilot examination centre.
